چکیده

We present Bogoliubov’s causal perturbative QFT with a single refinement: the creation–annihilation operators at point, i.e., for specific momentum, are mathematically interpreted as Hida from white noise analysis. leave rest of theory completely unchanged. This allows avoiding infrared and ultraviolet divergences in transition to adiabatic limit interacting fields. existence proof fields QED operators. exists if only normalization Epstein–Glaser splitting distributions, construction scattering operator, is “natural,”, which eliminates arbitrariness choosing that makes definite, its predictive power considerably strengthened. example charge–mass relation can be proved within this confirmed experimentally.

White Noise Representation of Gaussian Random Fields

We obtain a representation theorem for Banach space valued Gaussian random variables as integrals against a white noise. As a corollary we obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a white noise representation for a Gaussian random field indexed by a measure space. We then show how existing theory for integration with respect to Gaussian processes indexed by [0, 1] can be ...

Continuous non-perturbative regularization of QED

We regularize in a continuous manner the path integral of QED by construction of a non-local version of its action by means of a regularized form of Dirac’s δ functions. Since the action and the measure are both invariant under the gauge group, this regularization scheme is intrinsically non-perturbative. Despite the fact that the non-local action converges formally to the local one as the cuto...

QED in strong fields

We discuss the status of atomic physics in strong field. We focus on the problem of electron-positron lines observed in heavy-ion collisions and on QED effects, calculated in strong Coulomb fields, especially Delbrück-scattering. We discuss the similarities and differences between these effects and channeling respectively beamstrahlung. We investigated the prospects for photon-channeling, calcu...

Detecting Markov Random Fields Hidden in White Noise

Motivated by change point problems in time series and the detection of textured objects in images, we consider the problem of detecting a piece of a Gaussian Markov random field hidden in white Gaussian noise. We derive minimax lower bounds and propose near-optimal tests.

Non-Perturbative QED and QCD at Finite Temperature

We present results of numerical solutions of Schwinger-Dyson equations for the finite-temperature quark and electron propagators. It is shown that both strongly coupled QED and QCD undergo a chiral symmetry restoring phase transition as the temperature is increased. We go beyond the bare vertex or “rainbow” approximation by applying the finite-temperature Ward-Takahashi identity to constrain th...
